Channeling the Muse (Video Workshop)
How to cultivate creative intuition
I used to want to be the smartest person in every room. But now I think being smart is overrated.
After decades of trial and error as a writer and artist, the biggest cheat code I’ve learned is to think less and listen more.
The artist is a vessel for the intelligence of source creation. The best ideas don’t come from us, but through us.
The secret is to slow down your busy thoughts and stop trying to solve everything with the analytical mind.
Intelligence is an amazing tool, but a shallow pond from which to pull inspiration, while the subconscious offers a vast ocean to cast your net for new ideas.
The muse lives in the subconscious. Like a dream or a lover, you can’t force inspiration, but you can cultivate the conditions to attract it.
Our bodies, energy, and emotions have access to a subtle intelligence beyond the conscious mind.
In my experience, an idea, before being born in the brain, begins as a felt sensation, an inner knowing. This is what I call Somatic Creativity, a process of alchemizing the subconscious information held in the body into ideas and expression.
Following is a 2-part video workshop, including a presentation on channeling the muse, and a guided meditation + writing ritual to practice Somatic Creativity.
Enjoy.
